Alex Thomas

Alex Thomas grew up in the West Willow neighborhood of Ypsilanti Township. His neighborhood sits just "West" of the Willow Run Bomber Site, home of Rosie the Riveter fame and two subsequent automobile factories. While those factories have now closed, the fight for working people continues as families in the community suffering from years of economic decline and disenfranchisement. A result has been Ypsilanti Township's disproportionate representation in our carceral system.

As a Community Advocate, Alex supports residents struggling with root drivers of crime such as housing insecurity, mental health, and substance use disorder. He's "thankful, compelled and energized" to support the Washtenaw Justice Project in its mission.
